Your Cars AC Compressor is like the heart of your AC System. It builds the pressure in your system to make the system work. There are many ways an AC Compressor can fail. Today we will talk about a few of those.

The most common failure that we find in AC Compressors is that the Clutch will fail. The Compressor Clutch is what engages to start spinning the compressor pulley. This allows the compressor to start working. if the Clutch is not engaged the Compressor Pulley can spin freely without engaging the compressor itself. If the clutch fails or doesn’t get power, the compressor doesn’t build any pressure, and your AC Doesn’t get Cold.

The second most common compressor failure is a leak. Modern Compressors are built with many seals and gaskets inside. If it begins to leak the Ac will lose refrigerant and start to leak.
The next most common AC Compressor Failure is that the Compressor fails internally. When this happens the compressor gets all of the correct signals, the clutch engages, but the compressor can’t build proper pressures.
Any of these failures can cause your AC System to blow hot air. This time of year, in Oklahoma City, that is neither comfortable nor safe.
