How Often Should I Service My Transmission?

Why Do I Need a Transmission Service?

The Transmission on your Vehicle has fluid just like your engine has engine oil! This fluid needs to be changed at a regular interval just like your engine oil. As your Transmission shift is uses Clutches to help shift the gears. As the Clutches wear the clutch material builds up in the fluid. The photo above shows some well used transmission fluid flowing out of the vehicle while the New Transmission Fluid Flows in. Used fluid is Dark in color and can nearly turn black.  In the photo Below you can see fresh Transmission Fluid.  It should be a bright red color and have a clear clean look.

For most vehicle we Recommend a Transmission Fluid Exchange every 30,000 Miles. This ensures that the Transmission Fluid stays in good operating condition. At Priebe’s Auto Clinic and Tire Center we check the Transmission Fluid Condition at each visit. This ensures that if an issue is beginning to develop we can catch it as soon as possible.  Call us anytime to or visit our Appointments Page here on the website to request an appointment.  We can check your fluid to ensure that your Transmission does not fail due to faulty or used fluid.
