Modern vehicles are made of of many different systems. Many of which use some type of fluid to either cool the system or as a hydraulic oil to operate. Most vehicle have between 5 and 11 fluids, and any of these systems can have leaks. There are some fluids that have a tendency to leak more than others.

Coolant- One of the most common leaks that we see is coolant. Coolant runs throughout the engine. On many vehicle it is used to cool the engine, transmission fluid, and engine oil. It is also used to operate your heater. This means that failures in any one of those coolers can cause a Coolant or Antifreeze leak. Coolant is one of the most important fluids in your vehicle. If it runs low it can cause Engine Overheating. This can cause very costly damage. If you see coolant in your driveway or notice that you are running low, it is imperative to get it checked out. A simple coolant pressure test can help us find the source of the leak.

Engine Oil- Another very common leak it Motor Oil. Motor oil is used to lubricate the internal parts of the engine. It also helps to lubricate the inside of the cylinder. Motor oil gets dirtier faster than any other fluids due to this. The engine in your vehicle has many covers and seal that are common to start leaking. Any number of these can cause oil on your driveway.
Power Steering Fluid- Not all cars use hydraulic power steering. Some use an electric system that has no fluid. Cars that do have power steering are common to leak. Power steering fluid uses quite a bit of hydraulic pressure to convert your steering power into power at the wheels. The hoses, pump, and steering gear are all very common leaks.
